GC Civil contacted Fine Form Pre-cast to tender on 1200m2 of precast panel Noise Walls for the Arrawarra Interchange Rest Area as part of the Pacific Highway up-grade between Woolgoolga and Halfway creek. Attention to detail is something that Fine Form Pre-cast Solutions pride themselves on and detail was at the fore-front of this Roads and Maritime project. Understanding the specifications for the materials and delivery requirements was of high importance. As part of the RMS Pacific Highway Upgrade panels needed to meet stringent quality controls.
Once our tender was successful, formwork was designed using a corrugated pattern. The corrugation is often preferred as it deters graffiti and helps to dissipate noise. The time frame for this project was restrictive. We utilised specialised tilting tables and a gantry crane within our large factory we were able to precisely and efficiently replicate panels in a controlled environment. Our ability to rack and stack panels in our yard is a huge advantage as we were able to store all 110 panels (6mx2m) ready for delivery prior to the installation date.
Compliance and record keeping was imperative under the RMS specifications. Inspection and test reports on every panel was a requirement, including photo evidence of each panel poured. Concrete testing was conducted on every 25m3 of concrete poured and site inspections by head contractors and RMS inspectors occurred regularly.
The system we have in place for panel compliance was highly regarded by those carrying out the inspections and it’s the same system that we use for all our pre-cast projects. We completed the project to RMS B80 specification on time and budget.
